What other facilities are there?

Within the scurry, we have seating, tables and shelters, there is a doggy shower and fresh water and bowls always available. We provide compostable poo bags, which we will deal with. DO NOT use your own poo bags unless they are compostable as it all goes to a composter! Please make sure you pick up!

Outwith The Scurry fields there is a dog friendly cafe within the shooting grounds, which also has takeaway, toilets, a country store and we have doggy items available to buy as part of the Scurry. So if you forget leads, balls, treats, trainings aids...its all there. Please note they operate differing opening hours. See Auchterhouse CountrySports

Can you hear the shooting?

Depending on what way the wind is blowing there can be a faint noise in the background. It is quieter than the cars passing from the main road and hardly recognisable as gunshots. If it can be heard, its more like someone using a hammer a street away. On the very rare occassion that there is huge competitions being held, you will be informed and alternative appointments will be available if it is a concern.

SUNDAY SHOOTS

Shooting takes place Wednesday to Saturday at the shooting ground nearby. The noise of the guns is similar to a neighbour using their hammer down the street and often depends on the wind direction to its volume.

Unless your dog is extremely nervous we have found that this has rarely been an issue for anyone using the fields. However, if your are concerned about this we would ask you to stick to Sundays to Tuesdays or before 10am any day. (Be aware though that it's the countryside and IF shooting is heard it may be a farmer gas gun or on a nearby estate) if you have a booking on one of the dates below and are concerned, please feel free to log back in and rearrange or contact us. Please watch the following video for an example of shooting nearby.
